Protected by the The Sawatch Range to the Northwest, the Sangre de Cristo Range to the South and the Mosquito Range to the East, the Arkansas River Valley of Colorado boasts a uniquely mild climate for its 7,000 foot elevation.
The closer foothills are managed under the BLM’s Eastern Colorado Resource Management Plan, while the more distant mountains belong to the San Isabel National Forest.
All areas within the image are within the boundaries of the greater ECRMP area and the Upper Arkansas River Valley Human Ecoregion boundary.
